Part 1: Identification

Overview

Your are to find Freelance Project. This is an opportunity to practice and apply what you have learned. These individual projects also aim to distinguish your portfolio from your Peers. Whether as an Employee, or Self-Employed company owner, you will need to:

  • Find and contact potential new business-projects

  • Pitch and establish contracts new business-projects

  • Present and collaborate with Clients

  • Track time and manage the Project

  • Track accounting of: payments, expenses, invoices, and other resources

Types of Projects

Ask yourself the following questions in selecting work. Good rule of thumb, if you answer yes to three of the five, it may be a good project to pursue.

  • Is this work I want in my portfolio?

  • Is is the type of work I want to do?

  • Do I have, or can learn the necessary skills for this project?

  • Does it pay well, or am I ok working for free-experience?

  • Is this a client I want to work with, versus β€” have to β€” work with?

  • Ultimately, can I realistically get this project?
